Service By Publication

“Service by Publication” is permitted in specific circumstances as outlined in the Ohio Rules of Civil Procedure, the Ohio Rules of Juvenile Procedure, and in the Ohio Revised Code. “Service by Publication” is typically completed by placing a notice in a newspaper of general circulation, which is also defined by the Ohio Revised Code. However, in certain circumstances, these notices may be placed on the Clerk of Court’s website instead of in a newspaper of general circulation.

Pursuant to Local Court Rules, the Clerk of Courts is permitted to place “Service by Publication” notices on this website for cases under the Juvenile Court’s jurisdiction. The Clerk of Courts is also permitted to place “Service by Publication” notices on this website for cases under the Domestic Relations Court’s jurisdiction when an affidavit of indigency is provided by the party requesting service.

Beginning May 1, 2026, we will begin to transition all publication notices in the following case-types to this website: juvenile custody, support, and visitation cases filed by private parties.

Beginning May 11, 2026, we will begin to transition publication notices in the following case-types to this website: juvenile dependency, neglect, abuse, and permanent custody, along with subsequent motions filed in those cases. We will also continue to publish notices for these case types in the Columbus Dispatch through the end of May while we undergo this transition.

We will continue to update this page as to when each type of notice will begin to appear on this page instead of in a newspaper of general circulation.
