Appeals

Franklin County Clerk of Courts receives, receipts, and manages, and maintains all filings to the External linkCourt of Common Pleas and the Ohio External link10th District Court of Appeals. Cases filed to the Ohio 10th District Court of Appeals are initiated in the Clerk of Courts Appeals Division. The majority of Appeals cases are the result of a petitioner asking the Court to review a final appealable order rendered by the original trial court, such as the Franklin County Court of Common Pleas, External linkProbate Court, External linkFranklin County Municipal Court, External linkEnvironmental Court, and the External linkOhio Court of Claims. Petitioners can also file original actions in the Clerk of Courts’ Appeals Division. These include but are not limited to Writs of Mandamus, Habeas Corpus and Procedendo actions.

Electronic filing is available in this Division, however, it is not mandated by the Court’s Local Rules. Appeals cases are also available for viewing via public records request, and by using the External linkClerk’s Case Information Online (CIO).
